NaadRang had the pleasure of hosting the award-winning Drupad artist, Pandit Uday Bhawalkar on May 19th,2024.

Drupad is the oldest musical genre in Hindustani tradition. Panditji was accompanied on the Pakhawaj by Shri Sukhad Munde, who hails from a long standing musical family.

Panditji presented Shuddha Kalyan, Kalavati, Abhogi and ended the concert with a mesmerizing Bhairavi.

The nature of each raag was accurately and beautifully unfolded as his strong and melodious voice caressed each note. 

He introduced the raags to the audience through soulful alap and jod. 

The syllabic chanting of nom-tom systematically produced a meaningful dialogue with the notes of the raag and had a definite hypnotic effect. 

His usage of micronotes was marvelous. He represented the purity of the Dagar tradition.

The concert made a roomful of people spellbound and in awe of Drupad Gayaki.
